After a strong
day of Junior competitions, Tuesday is National Holstein Convention Host Day.
Guests could choose one of four tour options, each offering a unique
opportunity to “Legendairy” Wisconsin.
The farm tours
focused on modern breeding operations. Learning from four dairies that are using
all the tools to breed and market world-class genetics: MilkSource Genetics,
Synergy Dairy, Siemers Holsteins, and Hilrose Dairy. Capping it off, we had
lunch at the new $13-million Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center.
Other tours included “Farm Wisconsin and Zoo,” “Junior Farm and Float Tour,” and “Goats
and Glass Tour.”
The evening was
rounded out with Family Night near Lambeau Field. With legendairy Lambeau Field
in full view, convention goers enjoyed a meal in true Wisconsin fashion — a hog
roast with tenderloin steak sandwiches anchored the dinner that included all of Wisconsin’s favorite foods. Juniors and adults alike played tailgate
games or ventured to the Titletown District just a short walk away with its
loads of free games and playground equipment.
Wednesday is sure to be action
packed with the start of the 134th Annual Meeting, Dairy Bowl
competition and the National Sale! Be sure to check back for updates.
